Chief Data Scientist

Dominic Herzog is the Chief Data Scientist at TX Group, Switzerland’s leading private media group which reaches over 80% of the Swiss internet audience. In his role, he manages cross-company machine learning as well as AI projects and acts as a link to research projects in the field of natural language processing at the ETH Media Technology Center. In addition, he works with his team on the further development of internal quality metrics such as bias or visibility in TX Group’s products. Dominic holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Basel, where he specialized in Game and Auction Theory.

 

AI in the Media: Balancing Innovation, Quality, and Responsibility

Multi-perspective environments are needed when preparing an organization for the use of AI. In journalism, this approach should be combined with ethical guardrails to ensure publications are fact-checked, meet high journalistic standards, and preserve the trust of users. 

The two panelists provide insights into building AI and data strategy in media organizations, how to connect the use of AI to their mission, and how to build the ethical and infrastructural backbone to thrive in a data-driven environment. While bringing perspectives from the private sector and public service, TX Group’s Dominic Herzog and BR’s Uli Köppen are building on their extensive experience in leading data and AI teams within a journalistic environment, leveraging their expertise in journalism, advanced analytics, and data science.
